It is decades now that, relatively important investments are yearly made by most governments worldwide on the maintenance, conservation and promotion of cultural heritage, with the intention to highlight their cultural values and economic potentials as a key factor expected to contribute to the promotion of alternative model of sustainable socio economic development. When catastrophic events such as natural disasters and armed conflicts occur causing heavy damage to people and assets the accountancy of damage needs to be rationally made using set parameters.

Session F will mainly review the following issues of economics’ applied to cultural heritage:

Economic impact of armed conflicts on regional cultural tourism and heritage related socio- economic development; Accounting damage to cultural heritage and criteria used for refunding in post-conflict negotiation; Insurance and heritage protection during peace and in times of crisis;
