Session B of the conference builds on the findings of research conducted by the Epoch project within EU 7th Framework Programme where unlike for other sectors, there is a lack of user friendly IT and ICT designed for cultural heritage operators. A weakness that contributes to a sensible reduction in the capacity to deliver quality yet time effective interventions in the areas of restoration, conservation, maintenance, promotion and protection of cultural heritage. It is with this in mind that the STAC 8 will focus on:

User-friendly IT and ICT applied to heritage and protection; High-Tech applied to CH management; Cost benefit ratio ranging between budget containment and conservation/protection requirements; Techniques and technologies for movable and immovable heritage identification, survey, data acquisition, classification, cataloguing and documentation.
